علیرغم تناقض ضمنی موجود، میان «برتری اخلاقی» و «خودگروی» در فلسفهی اخلاق، این مفاهیم در فلسفهی اخلاق نیچه با یکدیگر پیوند دارند. نیچه با تکیه بر مفاهیم «اراده به قدرت» و «انسان برتر»، بر ارتباط اخلاق،بهعنوان امری وابسته به فردیت و آزادسازی از قیودسنتی تأکید میکند. مفهوم خودگروی با مفهوم اراده به قدرت، ارتباط وثیقی دارد کهاین اراده بهعنوان ابزاری جهت دستیابی به انسان برتر مطرح میشود. انسان برتری که میتواند ارزشهای خود را خلق کند و به برتری اخلاقی دست یابد که این برتری اخلاقی، قدرتی برای عبور از ارزشهای غالب اجتماعی است. باتوجه به رابطهی متقابل میان اراده به قدرت و انسان برتر، این ظرفیت در اندیشهی نیچه وجود دارد که میتوان با تبیین ارتباط میان خودگروی وبرتری اخلاقینه بهعنوان مفاهیمی متقابل، بلکه بهعنواندو نیروی سازندهدر راستای آزادی فردی و رهایی از قیود اجتماعی در فلسفهی اخلاق عمل نمایند.
